Why should you consider building an American house?

For those who are unfamiliar with the American housing construction system and the benefits they offer, this may be a question you would like answered. Frankly, there are many reasons why you should build an American wood frame house, but there are five major reasons that you should seriously consider.
  1. Shorter construction time: While most homes that are built with brick and concrete can take up to and sometime exceed one year to complete, a comparable size home using the American system could be built in 1/4 of the time. This time savings should result in a real cost of construction savings and more profit to you the builder.

  2. Unlimited architectural design: While a brick and concrete structure have certain architectural design and engineering limitations an American wood frame house using engineered lumber together with our diaphragm construction technology provides endless design possibilities. The necessity of brick and concrete walls and posts to support the additional floors and roof of the house can be eliminated with the American system.

  3. Energy efficient: The American system is superior to traditional brick and concrete housing in that it provides for greater insulating capabilities in the walls and floors to keep the house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Consequently the cost of heating and cooling your home will significantly reduce. If you live in a brick and concrete house, you should already know that your home holds or retains the temperature of the season. It takes longer to heat the brick and concrete mass in the winter and it takes longer to release the heat in the summer. Moisture is also retained in a brick and concrete house resulting in the paint and plaster flaking of the walls and ceiling. A wood house "breathes", allowing excess moisture to escape naturally.

  4. Earthquake resistant: While no structure built by man can withstand the forces of nature, the American housing system has been proven to resist earthquakes and other natural disasters with far less loss of life and property damage compared to traditional brick and concrete houses (see APA report). Due to the frequency of earthquakes, the American housing system is very popular in Japan and other countries of the Pacific Rim. As a result of the deadly earthquakes that the country of Turkey experienced in 1999 the government has embraced the American system and is actively pursuing alternative housing construction to replace their traditional construction methods.

  5. U.S. made building material: The United States building material industry is recognized around the world as a manufacturer of superior building products.
